SWIFT CURRENT, SK – We are excited to announce a commitment of $100,000 from W.W. Smith Insurance. The Southwest Facility Foundation has now raised over $4.87 million in the past 2 years. Funds raised will go towards supporting the City of Swift Current in building new recreation facility projects such as the much-needed aquatic leisure centre and multi-sport fieldhouse. The Foundation continues to work with the City and to engage with the community and stakeholders regarding the importance and benefit of getting these projects underway.
“As a 112-year-old business in Swift Current, funding initiatives that directly support individuals in our community is a core value that has driven our business for 4 generations. We firmly believe that the Southwest Facility Foundation is doing the right thing to help drive economic growth and are motivated by their fundraising efforts to date. When the foundation is successful in helping build this facility, we want to be part of that success story. Swift Current is a beautiful community that we are proud to call home. This facility is truly the only missing piece when we compare ourselves to other Saskatchewan cities of our size. By having this facility in our backyard, we will be able to encourage more families to call Swift Current their home.” - Chad Parenteau, W.W. Smith Insurance
Along with fundraising, part of the Foundation’s mission is to share and educate the community about the need, importance, and benefits of new recreation facilities in Swift Current. New facilities provide much-needed space for residents of all ages to gather and participate in a variety of recreational activities, fostering a healthy and active community. Recreation facilities are proven to provide significant boosts to tourism, economic activity, and future growth.
“Thank you to W.W. Smith Insurance for their commitment to the SWFF. They have a long history in Swift Current and the Southwest and have always been very involved in their community. They share our vision for Swift Current and fostering growth. We’re grateful for their support. and getting us closer to our goal of $8 million and to making these projects a reality,” - Travis Cuthbert, SWFF Board of Directors
The City of Swift Current continues to leverage and lobby all levels of government for their support and funding assistance for recreation facility projects. If you have questions regarding the City’s initiatives and progress, reach out to a City Councillor or contact City Hall.
