SWIFT CURRENT, SK – We are excited to announce a generous commitment of $50,000 from Nutrien Ag Solutions to the Southwest Facility Foundation. Nutrien Ag Solutions has committed $10,000 per year over 5 years, beginning at project approval. The Foundation has raised over $4.67 million since October 2023. These funds are being raised to support future recreation facility construction projects approved by the City of Swift Current. The Foundation continues to work with the City and to engage with the community and stakeholders regarding the importance and benefit of getting these projects underway.
“Nutrien is very proud and extremely excited to contribute to the Southwest Facility Foundation. Everyone in Southwest Saskatchewan will benefit from this facility. It will attract new families to the area and increase tourism to the area. People of all ages will use this facility, but it is important to have these opportunities for our youth. Nutrien strongly believes that this will support urban and rural growth in Southwest Saskatchewan” - Tim Tisdale, Area Manager at Nutrien Ag Solutions
Along with fundraising, part of the Foundation’s mission is to share and educate the community about the need, importance, and benefits of new recreation facilities in Swift Current. New facilities provide much-needed space for residents of all ages to gather and participate in a variety of recreational activities, fostering a healthy and active community. Recreation facilities are proven to provide significant boosts to tourism, economic activity, and future growth.
“We’re grateful to Nutrien for stepping up with this commitment. We also believe these projects will benefit all ages in the Southwest for health, wellness, and community — while fuelling economic growth through tourism, retention, and development. These facilities are more than just a pool, field, or gym — they are “third spaces” for people to stay connected and be active in a safe, welcoming environment.”
- Caitlin Mann, SWFF Board of Directors
The City of Swift Current continues to leverage and lobby all levels of government for their support and funding assistance for recreation facility projects. If you have questions regarding the City’s initiatives and progress, reach out to a City Councillor or contact City Hall.
