A Record-Setting 50/50 For Change Won by Local Who Champions Recreation
NEWS RELEASE
October 7, 2025
SWIFT CURRENT, SK – We got to flip the big cheque around! The 50/50 For Change raised a total of $53,830, a new record for the annual fundraiser. Laurie Haynes was the lucky winner of half the pot which was $26,915. Laurie grew up in Swift Current — swimming competitively and figure skating, with brothers who played hockey. She now coaches power skating and hockey in Gull Lake and billets a Swift Current Bronco. Laurie’s support of building new recreation facilities and her connection to recreation and the Southwest community made handing over the cheque extra special.
Board members Dallas Mohagen, Caitlin Mann, Alex Laird, and Jim Jones were onsite at Golden West Broadcasting to present Laurie with her winnings.
Thank you to everyone who bought tickets and to our 38 different volunteers who covered 94 volunteer hours - we couldn’t have done it without them!
