SWIFT CURRENT, SK – We are excited to announce a commitment of $25,000 from Swift Plumbing & Heating which is long overdue for a celebration and was matched by the Innovation Credit Union during the matching campaign. The Southwest Facility Foundation’s current total is over $5,443,000 in cash donations and commitment letters.
Funds will go towards supporting the City of Swift Current in building new recreation facility projects, such as the much-needed aquatic leisure centre and multi-sport fieldhouse. The Foundation continues to work with the City and to engage with the community and stakeholders regarding the importance and benefit of getting these projects underway.
“As a local business being operated by active members of the community with active families, we recognize the need for modern and accessible facilities to keep our city vibrant. This donation is our way of showing our commitment to the future of our community.” - Cory Tynning, Swift Plumbing & Heating
Along with fundraising, part of the Foundation’s mission is to share and educate the community about the need, importance, and benefits of new recreation facilities in Swift Current. New facilities provide much-needed space for residents of all ages to gather and participate in a variety of recreational activities, fostering a healthy and active community. Recreation facilities are proven to provide significant boosts to tourism, economic activity, and future growth.
“Thank you to Swift Plumbing for their commitment to the Southwest. Donations like this are so important in helping our city reach it’s goal. It’s fundraising but it also helps with awareness in the community, and other levels of government, grant opportunities, etc. Squeaky wheel gets the grease as we like to say! ” - Caitlin Mann, SWFF Board of Directors
The City of Swift Current continues to leverage and lobby all levels of government for their support and funding assistance for recreation facility projects. If you have questions regarding the City’s initiatives and progress, reach out to a City Councillor or contact City Hall.
