SWIFT CURRENT, SK – We are excited to announce a commitment of $250,000 from the R.M. of Riverside, the commitment will span over 10 years and start on breaking ground. This is the third R.M. to make a commitment to the Foundation and takes the total raised to over $5.4 million raised!
Funds will go towards supporting the City of Swift Current in building new recreation facility projects, such as the much-needed aquatic leisure centre and multi-sport fieldhouse. The Foundation continues to work with the City and to engage with the community and stakeholders regarding the importance and benefit of getting these projects underway.
“On behalf of the RM, we are very pleased to contribute $250,000 toward this important recreational facility. This is an important investment in our families, and in the future of the southwest region. Facilities like this create opportunities for people of all ages to come together, stay active, and build a stronger community. We are proud to be a part of making this vision a reality” - R.M. of Riverside Council
Along with fundraising, part of the Foundation’s mission is to share and educate the community about the need, importance, and benefits of new recreation facilities in Swift Current. New facilities provide much-needed space for residents of all ages to gather and participate in a variety of recreational activities, fostering a healthy and active community. Recreation facilities are proven to provide significant boosts to tourism, economic activity, and future growth.
“It is so rewarding to see municipalities step up to the plate in support of a cause that would benefit so many of their constituents and recreation as a whole in the greater Swift Current region.” - Jim Jones, SWFF Board of Directors
The City of Swift Current continues to leverage and lobby all levels of government for their support and funding assistance for recreation facility projects. If you have questions regarding the City’s initiatives and progress, reach out to a City Councillor or contact City Hall.
