SWIFT CURRENT, SK – The Southwest Facility Foundation (Foundation) is excited to announce that Ag Growth International (AGI) has pledged a one-time donation of $500,000 upon completion of a recreation facility build by the City of Swift Current. The Foundation continues to see strong support and large commitments from local agri-businesses and family farm operations.
AGI’s pledge brings the Southwest Facility Foundation’s total committed funds to over $4.6 million marking a significant milestone in the community-led effort to support future recreational facility construction decisions made by City Council. The City of Swift Current will continue to leverage and lobby all levels of government for their assistance and support of future projects.
“On behalf of our board and ultimately the residents of the City of Swift Current, we cannot thank AGI enough for this amazing commitment to help fund new recreation facilities in our city. We have known about this commitment for some time now, and it’s been difficult to keep it quiet, but we wanted to give AGI and their executives ample time to coordinate travel to Swift Current to celebrate this truly wonderful gesture!
Thank you to Gary Anderson, Art Stenson, and the late Rob Stenson for creating the culture of such a remarkable Canadian success story, and to David Postill and Tom Firth for making this commitment a reality for our community. It’s heartwarming that AGI sees such value in honouring the community where the company originated, and we cannot be more grateful.” said Travis Cuthbert, VP of the Southwest Facility Foundation.
As its birthplace of manufacturing, AGI’s sponsorship of the Swift Current project is a way to celebrate the company’s beginnings as a global provider of grain, seed, feed, fertilizer, and food solutions.
“We are proud to make this pledge and give back to the City of Swift Current and surrounding rural communities, which carry great civic, economic, agricultural, and heritage importance to AGI,” said Dave Postill, Senior Vice President of Global Marketing and Digital at AGI. “Rooted in farming and ranching, this region not only fuels AGI’s employee base, but it is home to many of our original farmer and dealer customers.”
Founded in Swift Current in 1996 as Batco Manufacturing by Art Stenson, Rob Stenson, and Gary Anderson, AGI began by producing farm conveyors. Since going public in 2004, the company has expanded globally, acquiring operations in Canada, the U.S., Brazil, India, France, and Italy. Today, AGI is a global leader in food infrastructure solutions and continues to manufacture in Swift Current, supporting local farmers and dealers across North America.
In addition to fundraising, part of the Foundation’s mission is to share and educate the community about the need, importance, and benefits of new recreation facilities in Swift Current. New facilities provide a much-needed hub for residents of all ages to gather, thrive, and participate in a variety of recreational activities, fostering a vibrant and healthy community.
Modern recreation facilities benefit the entire Southwest by improving the quality of life and positioning Southwest Saskatchewan as an even better place to live and invest. Facilities such as aquatic leisure centres and fieldhouses are proven to provide significant boosts to tourism, economic activity, and future growth.
